POISONOUS THOUGHTS ARE THE ENEMY OF THE FAITH LIFE
A poisoned thought life is an enemy of a believer’s life of faith. A faith that we
need to live life to God’s glory, a faith that allows us to see the miraculous
become reality and the impossible become possible.
Proverbs 23:6-8 “ Do not eat the bread of a miser, Nor desire his delicacies; 7 For
as he thinks in his heart, so is he. "Eat and drink!" he says to you, But his heart is
not with you. 8 The morsel you have eaten, you will vomit up, And waste your
pleasant words.
“A person is literally what he or she thinks, Their character being the complete
sum of all their thoughts.” James Allen
A W Tozer “What we think about when we are free to think about what we
will—that is what we are or will soon become...”.
Galatians 5:16-17 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the
desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and
the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each
other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
If you think negative thoughts, you will become a negative, faithless person.
If you think faith filled, God focused, thoughts you will become like Christ.
What we think about affects us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Proverbs 4:23 (CSB) Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.
Proverbs 4:23 (GNB) Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your
thoughts.
Mark 7:18–23 (NLT) “Don’t you understand either?” he asked. “Can’t you see that
the food you put into your body cannot defile you? 19 Food doesn’t go into your
heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.” (By
saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God’s eyes.)
20 And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. 21 For from
within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft,
murder, 22 adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander,
pride, and foolishness. 23 All these vile things come from within; they are what
defile you.”
We disable our faith by grieving and quenching The Holy Spirit in us and we
begin doing Satan’s work when we don’t guard our heart, our thought life.
2 Corinthians 10:3–5 (ESV) For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging
war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh
but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every
lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive
to obey Christ,
Anything that is inconsistent with God's Word, we take it captive and we actively
make it obedient to Christ.
You must guard your mind against fearful thoughts.
We can have very discontented thoughts.
We have a critical thought life or mind set, a stronghold
Guard your thoughts, because you have a choice.
A poisonous thought life is a killer of the life of faith and miracle working power
of God in us and through us.
Replace these faith killing thoughts with God's truth. Identify, reject and replace.
Philippians 4:7-8 And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will
guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally brothers, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is any
praise—dwell on these things.
True: John 3:33 The one who has accepted His testimony has affirmed that God is
true.
John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to
the Father except through Me.
John 14:15-17 If you love Me, you will keep My commands. 16 And I will ask the
Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. 17 He is the
Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or
know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be in you.
John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.

Romans 12:2: Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Colossians 3:1-11 So if you have been raised with the Messiah, seek what is
above, where the Messiah is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on
what is above, not on what is on the earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is
hidden with the Messiah in God. 4 When the Messiah, who is your life, is revealed,
then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. 5 Therefore, put to death what
belongs to your worldly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and
greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, God’s wrath comes on the
disobedient, 7 and you once walked in these things when you were living in them. 8
But now you must also put away all the following: anger, wrath, malice, slander,
and filthy language from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have
put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self. You are being
renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator. 11 In Christ there is
not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave
and free; but Christ is all and in all.
We need the mind of Christ through conversion.
We must clean out and block out sources for sinful thoughts
Daily surrender to Christ’s Lordship
Forgive and let go of bitterness
