RISE UP AND LET HIS LIGHT SHINE THROUGH

John 8:12 “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

As Christ followers we have the light of the world and we're to shine.

Isaiah 60:1–3 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. 2 For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. 3 And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

The Bible says we go from strength to strength instead of stress to stress.

The most important word: “Arise”

You have a choice you can rise up in faith or you can hunker down in fear.

Joshua 1:5b–9 “Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

God uses Ordinary People to do extraordinary things.

It's not about your ordinariness it's about God’s extraordinariness.

God always uses ordinary people who will put their little ordinary Faith totally in him and believe that He will do something extraordinary in their life.

Defining moments determine your destiny.

Joshua 3:5–7 “Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”  6 Joshua said to the priests, “Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on ahead of the people.” So they took it up and went ahead of them.  7 And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses.”

Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is stepping out in faith in spite of your fears.

You can't control your feelings many times but you can control your actions.

When you have a need, when you need a miracle plant a seed of faith.

Joshua 3:15–16 “Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

Without faith it's impossible to please God.

When you take a step of faith and get your feet wet then God works the miracle.

In the darkest night God's light shines brightest.

See the light of God's power.

Joshua 1:5 “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Whatever God asks you to do he gives you the power to do.

The light of God's presence.

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

The light of God's promises.

Joshua 1:8 “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

God doesn't want you to fail.

The word success in the Hebrew here literally means the ability to make wise decisions.

Philippians 2:15 “so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”

The darker the night the brighter Jesus Christ can shine but he shines through you he shines through me.

It's through that Brokenness that he shines through the Most.
