Christmas Day: God’s Christmas Gifts Within the Gift

Luke 2:10-11, 14

Matthew 1:23. Look! “The virgin will conceive a child! “She’ll give birth to a son, “they will call Him Immanuel, which means God is with us.” In Jesus-God With Us.

The message of Christmas is: You matter to God.

John 3:16 (CSB) For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

God has a gift for you and His gift is Jesus Christ.

Luke 2:10–14 (ESV) And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Jesus Christ came to earth to save us and banish our fear.

1. ACCEPT GOD’S GIFT OF GREAT JOY AND HAPPINESS

“I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”

The first gift God wants you to have is He wants you to be happy.

God wants you to make the most of your life, not to waste it or abuse it, but to make your life count.

2. ACCEPT GOD’S GIFT OF HOPE

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

What is salvation? It means forgiveness for your past, it means freedom from the problems that mess you up in the present, and it means fulfillment in eternity.

John 3:17 (ESV) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

Jesus didn’t come to put you down, He came to lift you up.

3. ACCEPT GOD’S GIFT OF PEACE

14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

God wants you to have good relationships with other people, not just with Him.

Christmas is a time for reconciliation.

First you get peace with God and once you’ve got peace with God, then you get the peace of God in your life. Once you’ve got the peace of God then you can have peace with other people.

2 Corinthians 5:18 (ESV) All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;

Human forgiveness and human love run out.

God’s love never runs out.

4. ACCEPT GOD’S GIFT OF LOVE

God has given us the gift of love.

A love that passes understanding –

A perfect love, for love is the very nature and character of God.

A pure love, that will no longer be hidden by the clouds of doubt and fear –

A wonderful love, for God is love and God is eternal.

A perfect love: 1John.4:18 “…for perfect love casts out all fear.”

This gift of Love in Jesus is a Powerful Love.

Though circumstances sometimes appear to the contrary, His love will never fail.

Christ’s whole life was lived under the shadow of His cross.
